The key to understanding the right measurement is to know the width and height of your space. It is particularly important to understand the symmetry and balance of the room. A well balanced and proportioned draping is the key to any backdrop. Most importantly, stand in the middle of the room, review the layout, and take the right measurements.
Using lightweight fabrics like sheer, voile, or chiffon, are standard fabrics to use for event draping. These types of drapes are great because they are transparent, versatile, and illuminates lights. Other types of drapes such as taffeta, satin, velour, polyester, and banjo can be used as accent drapes. We highly recommend using lightweight fabrics for event draping because it gives you more flexibility with your designs.
Colors bring energy to the room. Choosing the right drape colors for an event can be overwhelming. It all depends on the tone and theme of your event. For instance, if you are going for a clean and simple look, we highly recommend using standard colors such as white, ivory, or soft blush. Accent colors like gold, black, red, green, orange, etc. adds contrast to your décor and create a more visual appeal.
All base plates, uprights, and crossbars should be installed properly. It is important to ensure all hooks, clips, rods, and other hardware are safely and properly secured. The sturdiness of the pipes is just as important as the safety of your guests. Furthermore, to prevent the possibility of the hardware collapsing, the heaviness and number of drapes being used should be measured by the number of uprights and base plates that support each crossbar. Base plates are the foundation of every backdrop. We recommend using at least a 15lb base plate for a 6-10’ backdrop.
